Lead is a soft, malleable poor metal. It is also counted as one of the heavy metals so it has a high density. Lead is used in building construction, lead-acid batteries, bullets and shot, weights, as part of solders, pewters, fusible alloys, and as a radiation shield. Lead is used in applications where its low melting point, ductility and high density are advantageous. The low melting point makes casting of lead easy. Lead is added to brass to reduce machine tool wear and also Lead has many uses in the construction industry too.
